A Note From Us as We Welcome 2026
As we step into 2026, it feels as though we are arriving in a very different landscape. I’m filled with excitement to begin sharing new designs with you and to hear your thoughts, yet I’d be less than honest if I didn’t also acknowledge a quiet sense of apprehension about the year ahead.
You may already be aware that the price of precious metals has risen dramatically. At the time of writing, silver has nearly tripled in value since January 2025, with an increase of over 40% in the past month alone. These changes have a profound impact on small independent businesses like ourselves.
From the very beginning, we have chosen to work with beautifully substantial weights — pieces that feel luxurious in the hand and reassuringly made to last. Time and again, your reviews tell us that our jewellery feels far more precious than its price suggests, and that has always meant everything to me. Like many of you, I’ve experienced the disappointment of online purchases that fail to live up to their promise, and it was important to me that Tulip would never be that.
We produce thoughtfully and in small batches, creating only what is needed and revisiting designs that have truly resonated with you. While this approach reflects our values, it also means we are more sensitive to the fluctuating cost of precious materials, particularly at a time when margins are already finely balanced.

Alongside the rising cost of precious metals, there are many other essential business expenses that sit quietly behind every order. These include advertising, which is vital for an independent brand to be discovered online, as well as thoughtfully designed packaging, increasing postage costs, and the delivery fees we absorb to offer complimentary shipping to our customers.
There are also payment processing fees when purchases are made via credit cards or PayPal, and the return postage and re-postage involved in the free exchanges we proudly offer. When all of this is considered, the reality is that at last year’s cost prices we were making only a modest profit — and at today’s material prices, a loss.
Recently, I’ve noticed a return to silver-plated brass jewellery both online and in stores. While there is a place for many approaches, this is not a direction we wish to take. We remain committed to using only precious materials — crafted with care, designed to endure, and intended to be treasured far beyond a single season.
As we navigate this period, we ask for your patience while we decide which designs will be lovingly restocked and which, sadly, may be retired. You may notice a few pieces remaining out of stock for a little longer than usual, and our prices will be increasing in the coming month as new batches are made and arrive online.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for supporting us over the past ten years. I truly hope we can continue this journey together. I’ve always believed in building lasting relationships founded on trust — offering designs you love, made with integrity and care, at a price that feels considered and fair.
I have so many ideas and hopes for the future of Tulip. My wish is that our small business continues in the spirit in which it began, and that we emerge from this moment stronger, wiser, and still creating jewellery to be cherished.
Warmest Wishes
Shelley
